The Power of Nice by
Linda Kaplan Thaler, Robin Koval
from a reader:
I actually received this book as part of a Bzz Campaign to read and talk about. The great thing is I just loved it. I will now be buying several copies of it to give as gifts to friends and family. This small book is a great reminder on how best to live one's life. Yes, it is a business book...but, much of the context translates very well into "real" life. I believe that most of us think we are living our lives in a nice way, but this book is very good at pointing out that we get what we give.

Living Artfully
by
Sandra Magsamen

from a reader:
Living Artfully is a very gentle wake up call to appreciate those around you and to see life in loving and artful ways. Sandra stresses that you don't have to be an artist, or even perceive yourself as being creative to live life artfully.
The book is filled with suggestions of things to do and creative ways to show friends and family that you love them. Although it is hard to imagine actually doing most of them, it is great fun to read and think about the few that you might do and the meaningful result those actions will have. The thing I loved about the book is Sandra's ability to reconnect to the joy of living, the the joy of play and laughter that generally exists in childhood and gets lost bit by bit as we get older. Sandra shares her stories and offers memory triggers to help recapture your youthful spirit.

The Joy Diet: 10 Daily Practices for a Happier Life
by Martha Beck

from a reader:
This book was a surprising help to change my life for the better. It really had some great ideas to follow to add fun back into my life! As a recovering workaholic, the ideas in this book really showed me things missing from my life & small steps I could take to make changes.

A Whole New Mind
Information Age to the Conceptual Age
by Daniel Pink
How do you survive, thrive and find meaning in an automated, outsourced, upside down world?

from a reader, Dennis Muza
Design, Story, Symphony, Empathy, Play, Meaning. In a nutshell these are the key right brain abilities that Pink considers will make the difference between success and failure into the 21st century. The bulk of the book explores these from a very practical perspective, but even better than that, it gives you pointers and actual tools for you to begin developing these on your own...
if you think about it what Pink describes are the very qualities that distinguish us from machines, that make us fully and uniquely human. So by developing them you tap into your humanity, setting you on your way to a happier, richer life, and there's no better payoff than that.
